Welcome!

Welcome to the V Young Researchers Meeting that will take place on 14th-15th November 2022.

The objective of this meeting is to highlight and exchange innovative results in oncology and rare diseases and connect early and senior career researchers. Moreover, this event provides a good opportunity to establish scientific discussion and networking between CIBER groups.

The program includes the presentation of results related to the following areas:

  1. Tools for molecular diagnostics.
  2. New therapeutic approaches.
  3. Tumour microenvironment.
  4. Machine learning and experimental models.
  5. Molecular bases of diseases.
  6. Biomarkers.

In addition, there will be two round tables that will debate current important topics, including animal experimentation: research need and available alternatives; and career paths after the PhD.

The meeting is exclusive for CIBERONC and CIBERER groups and linked groups, prior registration on the "Sign Up" section.

Online registration is open now until 15th October 2022 at 12:00 p.m (midday). Abstract submission is available now until 11th September 2022 via email to [email protected]. An abstract submission form needs to be filled out. For further information on abstract submission, please refer here. Abstracts will be selected for oral presentation or poster.

This meeting will have Awards for best post-doctoral and pre-doctoral oral presentations and best poster.

We will be updating all the information concerning the event on this website, so please mark the V Young Researchers Meeting on your calendars, stay tuned and join us on this (hopefully) in person meeting that will be held in Santiago de Compostela.

We are looking forward to having you with us!

IZASKUN MIGUEL GARCÍA

Deputy Director of CIBER-ONC

MIGUEL LÓPEZ DE HEREDIA

Scientific advisor of CIBER-ER

SONIA DOMÍNGUEZ ZORITA

Hereditary Mitochondrial and Metabolic Medicine

Sonia received her B.Sc. in Biochemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She is currently finishing her PhD under the supervision of Prof. José M. Cuezva at the Centro de Biología Molecular-Severo Ochoa. Her work is focused on the pathophysiological implications of the mitochondrial IF1/ATP synthase axis in colon homeostasis.

SUSANA TORRES MARTÍNEZ

Respiratory Tract Tumours

Susana revceived her B.Sc in Biotechnology at Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche. She is currently finishing her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Carlos Camps and the Dra. Eloisa Jantus Lewintre at TRIAL Mixed Unit (FIHGUV-CIPF). Her study has been focused on NSCL cancer microenvironment and the translational implications.

SARA CRESPO YANGUAS

Gastrointestinal Tumours

Sara is a biologist and she graduated from her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2018. She joined the team led by Dr. Gabriel Capellá at Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) in 2019. Her research focusses on the modeling of mismatch repair deficiencies by means of pluripotent stem cell-derived organoids as a potential strategy for precision surveillance and prevention.

LAURA SÁNCHEZ BELLVER

Sensorineural Pathology

Laura obtained her B.Sc. in Genetics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She is currently in her third year of thesis under the supervision of Dr. Gemma Marfany at the University of Barcelona. Her doctoral thesis is committed to study the indispensable role that deubiquitinating enzymes may play in the retina, specifically in cilia formation and function in photoreceptors.

RUBÉN GIMÉNEZ MARTÍNEZ

Hematological Tumours

Rubén graduated from his B.Sc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Barcelona in 2018. He started his PhD in 2021 under the supervision of Patricia Perez Galan and Dolors Colomer at Hospital Clinic of Barcelona. His topic mainly focuses on Follicular Lymphoma microenvironment in 3D culture models and the establishment of new therapeutic approaches.

LUIS GALÁN PALMA

Mechanisms of Tumour Progression

Luis got his BSc in Biomedicine at the University of Seville in 2017 and his MSc in Genetics and Genomics at the University of Barcelona in 2018. He joined Anna Bigas lab at IMIM/IJC in September 2018, where he is currently investigating mechanisms of pluripotency and hematopoietic specification in embryonic stem cells for regenerative medicine purposes.

MARTA BORT BRUSCA

Breast Cancer

Marta obtained his B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Barcelona in 2019. She is currently in her second year of PhD under the supervision of Dr. Joaquín Arribas at IMIM. Her work is focused on the development of CARs based strategies as a therapeutic option to specifically target cellular senescence in cancer.
